I have three words for this movie: Cheesy as hell. I love Jason Statham and I thoroughly enjoyed the previous Transporter films, but as the beginning of the movie started out okay, as I sat through the movie, the more ridiculous it started to become. Let me first say this – I enjoy every inch of statham’s Frank Martin, but the newcomer, Natalya Rudakova, who played Valentina drove me insane. I would blame Valentina partly on the actress and partly on the screen play. Everytime she opened her mouth in addition to her complete ignorance of the dangers they were in (especially in the scene where Frank Martin were trying to avoid getting shot by the other black sedan) made my dislike for her grow stronger. Although I am completely aware that the movie was just for pure fun and entertainment, I still disliked how Frank’s emotions for Valentina literally flipped a switch. My dislike for Valentina might have influenced my repulsion by Frank’s swift “mood change”.
I realize again, that the movie requires a suspension of disbelief, but if Johnson (played by the awesome Robert Knepper) hired Frank to deliver Valentina, why in names did he end up at the location? Obviously he could have just done it himself, or had Valentina in his possession the entire time. I’ll swallow some of the “no way” scenes, but Frank *is* a transporter after all, and one would assume one would hire a transporter to transport something because they would not have been able to do it themselves. Truly disappointing. My favorite scenes would have to be the exchanges between Frank Martin and Tarconi (François Berléand) – they were with the right touch of humour and I felt the chemistry between them was much more believable than that of Statham and Rudakova.
All in all, this would have been a fun movie except that the corniness went above what I could handle and Valentina ruined it for me completely. Sorry Jason Statham, not even you could save this movie!
My Rating: 1/5, not recommended until you really are bored and just want a cheap thrill ride
