Movie Review: How to Train Your Dragon (March, 2010)

Director: Dean DeBlois, ampoule Chris Sanders Screenplay: Dean DeBlois, more info Adam F. Goldberg, doctor Chris Sanders, Peter Tolan Release Date: March 26, 2010 Actors: Jay Baruchel, Gerard Butler, Craig Ferguson, America Ferrera Based on the kid’s book of the same name ( Book 1) by Cressida Cowell I’m still behind on publishing movie reviews that have, by now, left the theatre, or are currently in the theatre. I will get to it eventually, but I wanted to write this one since it is fresh and lovable in my eyes. How to Train a Dragon is the story of a young, seemingly weak and scrawny Viking named Hiccup, trying to fit in with the rest of the Viking clan. The Vikings are a group of huge, muscular people, making their own tools, growing their own food and making their own fires. Their main hobby is killing dragons, as the Vikings and the Dragons have been killing each other for centuries. The dragons have been taking their livestock and food, and the Vikings have been killing dragons to prevent them from taking what is theirs. There are many different kinds of dragons, with the most dangerous of all being the Night […]

Movie Review: A Christmas Carol (November, 2009)

Director: Robert Zemeckis Screenplay: Robert Zemeckis Date of Release: November 6, try 2009 Actors: Jim Carrey, decease Steve Valentine, viagra 60mg Gary Oldman, Colin Firth, Cary Elwes, Robin Wright Penn Based on the book of the same name by Charles Dickens Disney’s newest movie, “A Christmas Carol”, is an interesting take on Charles Dickens’ most famous story with the same name. Throughout the years there has been many remakes of this wonderful book, from “Mickey’s Christmas Carol” to Bill Murray’s “Scrooged“. This time, Disney tries its hand at making the story come alive in 3-D. “A Christmas Carol” is one of my favorite childhood stories. I found Ebenezer Scrooge a fascinating character, a grumpy, greedy, cratchety old man who refused to let go of one cent of his earnings. Every one familiar with “A Christmas Carol” will be familiar with the story line told here, with a few strange changes made by Disney. I was interested to see how Robert Zemeckis would decide how the Ghosts would look like or act like, and after viewing, I can’t say I enjoyed having Jim Carrey act in the roles of all the Ghosts. All I could see was “Jim Carrey” in the […]

Movie Review: Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (September, 2009)

Directors: Phil Lord, disorder Chris Miller Screenplay: Phil Lord, Chris Miller Actors: Anna Faris, Bill Hader, James Caan, Bruce Campbell, Mr. T, Andy Samberg Date of Release: September 18, 2009 Based on the book of the same name by Judi and Ron Barrett Food raining down from the sky? What a grand idea! I was lucky enough to first hear about this movie during the San Diego Comic Convention this year, having attended the panel and seeing a few clips before it had been released to the general public. It had peaked my interest that it landed on my “to-watch” list. When I saw all the advertisements for it coming out, I became excited. So, having finally seen it, did it live up to my expectations? Well, yes and no. “Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs” is first and foremost, a family film. It is the story about Flint Lockwood, who is an extremely inventive, smart and nerdy (though I think here it’s almost an understatement) young adult who has never been able to fit in anywhere, ever since he was a young kid. The neighbours recognize him as the “weird kid”, always busy toiling in his self-made lab for […]
